Michigan Child Care Background Checks

New Hire Process
When hiring a new lead teacher or assistant teacher for a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom, please follow the following process to ensure all necessary documentation is in place:
1) Prior to hiring, directors or other relevant Human Resources personnel identified at each center will forward a copy of the letter from the Michigan Child Care Background Checks to the Collaborative Center Program Manager within 24 hours of receipt from the State of Michigan. At this time, please also submit copies of transcripts of the applicant being considered for hire.
2) Directors will submit new staff APOT paperwork via email to their Coordinator within the first week of employment, if hired throughout the year.

Safety is of the utmost importance to NMCAA. Background checks are one of many steps that ensure children are with adults who will keep them safe. We appreciate your support and efforts to ensure this important procedure is followed.
