APOT for Collaborative Centers


For Collaborative Centers, the Annual Pre-service Orientation Training (APOT) paperwork will be completed within the first week of hire for new staff and yearly before the start of the new program year for returning staff. Volunteers in the classroom will also complete an APOT packet that will be turned in your Coordinator.

Keeping Children Safe

New Hire Process
When hiring new staff who will be working with HS or EHS children or families, please follow the following process to ensure all necessary documentation is in place:
1)Michigan Childcare Background Checks- Prior to hiring, directors or other relevant Human Resources personnel identified at each center will forward a copy of the letter from the Michigan Child Care Background Checks to the Collaborative Center Program Manager within 24 hours of receipt from the State of Michigan.
2) Transcripts/Degree- Prior to hiring, for HS leads and assistants and EHS primary caregivers, please submit copies of transcripts of the applicant being considered for hire.
3) APOT- Within the first week of hire, directors will submit new staff and volunteer APOT paperwork via email to their Coordinator.

COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement
Starting Jan 31, 2022 all employees, contractors, and volunteers who work in Head Start Programs and who work directly with children and families will be vaccinated for COVID19 unless an exemption/reasonable accommodation is requested and granted. Refer to the Collaborative Center Vaccine (COVID-19) and Masking Plan for complete guidance related to this requirement.

Review
Collaborative Center Directors will review the following information yearly:
  • Their center's Partnership Agreement (the contract)
  • The information on the Hiring Staff page
  • The Collaborative Center Staff and Volunteer Required Paperwork Checklist
  • 2022/2023 Important Dates
Complete and Submit
Directors will submit the forms below before the beginning of the new program year with copies of the requested documents:
